Mountain Home Air Force Base officials are speaking out about the deaths of three airmen in a tragic crash on Interstate-84. Officials with the Air Force base say the loss of the three airmen is a lot more personal than just losing three coworkers; instead, it's a personal loss for the individuals who knew and loved them.

"These airmen were like children to me and their loss is a great tragedy to me, but they'll be greatly missed by everyone on this base," said Col. Joseph Kunkel, 366th Fighter Wing Commander at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Senior Airman Carlos Johnson, Senior Airman Lawrence Manlapit II and Senior Airman Karlie Westall were the airmen who died in the crash.

Officials say grief counselors are available for those affected by the tragedy.
