Major League Baseball informed Minor League Baseball that it would not provide its affiliated minor League teams with players for the 2020 season. As a result of the decision, there will be no Northwest League season in 2020.
The Northwest League and Boise Hawks' season was set to begin on June 17.
"We had remained optimistic since March that our season would not be affected," said Mike Van Hise, Hawks' General Manager. "We prepared for the worst and hoped for the best. We understand yet saddened by the news from Minor League Baseball this afternoon."
2020 will be the first season since 1986 without professional baseball in the Treasure Valley. The Boise Hawks staff is working with local and state governments on the opportunities to host safe summer events at Memorial Stadium.
The Hawks staff is now contacting ticket plan holders and corporate partners about the status of their current agreements. For more information, visit the Boise Hawks website.
Memorial Stadium is currently closed to the public; however, members of the front office team are working and can be reached via email at info@boisehawks.com. Updates on Memorial Stadium events and the Boise Hawks can be found at BoiseHawks.com and on their Facebook page.
