Mountain Home man dies in workplace accident on I-84

NAMPA, Idaho — A Mountain Home man was pronounced dead Tuesday morning after being involved in a workplace accident that happened on June 1. The accident occurred on westbound I-84 at exit 36 (Franklin Blvd.) in Nampa.

28-year-old Robert J. Jones was pronounced dead at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise at 2:30 a.m. on June 2. According to the Ada County Coroner's Office, Robert suffered traumatic injuries on June 1 while on a repaving job site. The injuries were sustained from heavy machinery.

The Idaho Transportation Department was grieved to learn of the death of Robert, an employee of Concrete Placing Company. ITD extends its condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Robert. Concrete Placing Company is the contractor for the construction on I-84 in Nampa and the company has notified OSHA.

The case is under investigation by the Nampa Police Department. ITD said in a press release it will cooperate with any investigation.
