Mountain West men's and women's basketball programs will play a 20-game season with limited travel and two-game series in a week format.
The conference announced Monday teams will move to a 20-game schedule that will play out over 11 weeks, all within the context from state, county and local guidelines, according to MW. Travel will be "significantly" reduced under the new schedule, the conference announced.
Teams will play a two-game series in the same week with a single-day break in between contests and each will have five home and five road series, which will reduce travel, according to the MW.
The final schedule is yet to be released, but league games will begin in December and wrap up the last week of February, according to a news release from the conference. The updated format is designed to allow flexibility should games need to be canceled due to the pandemic.
