NAMPA, Idaho — The City of Nampa is hosting an open house event Wednesday, giving people a chance to find out more about its affordable senior housing developments.
The open house is at Mercy Creek Apartments at 1615 S. 8th Street from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on September 4. Mercy Creek opened in July 2019 and features 50 units. It stands on the original site of Mercy Hospital, which had been built in the early 1900s. The hospital was vacated in the mid-2000s before being destroyed by a fire in 2016.
Mercy Creek is one of three complexes open or being developed in Nampa. Colorado Gardens Apartments opened in December 2018 on S. Elder Street. Its 50 units are currently at full capacity but applications for a waiting list are being accepted. Rent costs vary based on income.
Sky Ridge Apartments on E. Hawaii Street is currently under development. It's expected to boast 70 units and will also offer affordable senior housing. Design and construction teams from CSDI Construction, Inc. and Hutchinson Smith Architects are behind Sky Ridge. The complex will feature 20 studio units, 42 one bedroom/one bathroom units and eight two bedroom/one bathroom units for lower-income residents. It should be completed in summer 2020.
“The topic of growth is at the forefront of discussions across the entire Treasure Valley. I am very pleased that Nampa will soon have three additional affordable housing complexes," says Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling. "While these three properties are focused on over 55 housing, there is a percentage of housing available for other ages.”
