NAMPA, Idaho — The Boise Rescue Mission announced the Nampa Lighthouse men’s shelter will temporarily close, effective Friday.

Reverend Bill Roscoe said in a statement to staff that with the numbers of staff out with COVID-19 and other illnesses, they cannot staff two men's facilities. They plan on keeping the Lighthouse shelter closed until January 1 and reopening will depend on staffing for both facilities.

BRM said in a news release the facility will be occupied for security purposes and anyone arriving for shelter will be transported to the River of Life Rescue Mission in Boise.

The Lighthouse offers meals and shelter for the homeless, addicted and struggling men. Services provided at the shelter include education, work-search help, mental health counseling, addiction recovery and a veterans ministry program.

Rev. Bill Roscoe released the following statement to the Mission Staff:

Today I made the very difficult decision to temporarily close the Lighthouse facility down. With the numbers of staff out with COVID related and other illness, we simply cannot adequately staff two men’s facilities. The Lighthouse has been serving the fewest numbers of people, so it is the logical place to close.

Staff will begin the transfer of men from LH to the River today. My intention is to keep the Lighthouse closed until January 1. Re-opening will be contingent on adequate staffing for both facilities.

I cannot say “Thanks” enough to all Mission staff, and especially those on the front lines of Guest Services, where overtime is the norm and personal sacrifice is routine. I am so very proud to serve with all of you, and thank God for your dedication.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body ...
2 Co. 4:8-12

Jesus Christ said:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find.
Matthew 7:7-8

We are people of prayer and faith. We will not be crushed; God hears our heart cry.
