UPDATE: (7:35 p.m., 12/18): Nampa police an officer was stabbed in the face in an altercation with a passenger in the vehicle from a traffic stop.
After the officer was stabbed, another officer shot the male in the vehicle.
UPDATE (12/18): One person is dead after Nampa police say an officer shot him during a traffic stop.
An officer conducted a traffic stop near the Family Dollar in Nampa at 11th Avenue N. and 2nd Street N. at 3:07 p.m. Friday. Nampa police say "at least one officer" fired a gun which hit the man. Medical aid was given on scene but the man was pronounced dead, according to police.
An officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and his injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from Nampa Police Department.
Canyon County Critical Incident Task Fore was called to investigate and Caldwell Police will lead the investigation, according to Nampa police.
Nampa police said no further information is currently available. It is unclear how many shots were fired and from how many officers, whether bullets killed the man, how many officers were present at the time and their identities.
