BOISE, Idaho — The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team of the Idaho National Guard has canceled a trip to Germany amid concerns over COVID-19.
1,600 members of the National Guard were affected by the cancellation after two years of planning.
Defender Europe 2020 involved the opportunity to train with international partners, which now leaves commanding officers to come up with another yearly exercise mandated for the 116th.
"There will be other opportunities in the future," Lt. Col. Chris Borders of the Idaho National Guard said. "We do a lot of training with our foreign partners."
