WISCONSIN — The secret is out!
After nearly a month of anxiously waiting, a 24-year-old West Allis man has come forward to claim the $768 million Powerball jackpot.
It holds the record of the second largest jackpot ever.
The golden ticket was sold at a New Berlin Speedway Mar. 27.
Manuel Franco admitted he never watches the drawings, but said he found out he won by searching the numbers after finding out the ticket was sold in Wisconsin.
"It was amazing, my heart started racing..I screamed for five to ten minutes," he said.
Franco says he quit his job two days after finding out the big news. He plans on taking the lump sum.
The win comes almost two years after Wisconsin hit its last Powerball jackpot, when a Milwaukee resident won $156.2 million on March 22, 2017.
TODAY'S TMJ4's I-Team found that odds for the lottery in Wisconsin have been particularly lucky over the last year.
Powerball has paid out the most in Wisconsin from April 2018 to April 2019, and that amount will increase substantially after the winner of the $768 million Powerball jackpot comes forward.
Milwaukee has the top spot for Wisconsin cities' lottery payouts -- over $5 million.
