A Wisconsin girl would have just celebrated her 10th birthday May 17, if she wasn't hit by a stray bullet only days earlier.

Za'layia Jenkins was sitting in her living room watching TV in the 1500 block of Meinecke Avenue in Milwaukee with her 2-year-old cousin when police say a shootout between two groups started right outside her house.

A bullet flew through the living room, and struck Jenkins in the head. She was later declared brain dead.

The funeral was today.

The FBI needs help bringing to justice those who are responsible for Jenkins' death. They're sponsoring a new billboard campaign to try to bring in new leads.

$40,000 will be given to anyone who can provide information to authorities leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the shooting death of nine-year-old Jenkins.

The FBI, who is assisting the Milwaukee Police Department, is offering a $15,000 reward, and Milwaukee attorney Michael Hupy is offering an additional $25,000 reward, for a grand total of $40,000.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360, or 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5342).
