Florida teacher donates brand new BMW to fellow educator

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida — or the third straight year, Braman BMW gave away two brand new cars to a pair of Palm Beach County School district employees.

However, this year’s teacher of the year, Daniella Boyd, didn’t hold the keys for very long before she announced she was going to donate it to a fellow nominee.

The Royal Palm Beach High School math teacher describes her newly-awarded title as an honor of a lifetime.

“It’s just amazing I’m still pinching myself,” said Boyd.

Edging out thousands of other teachers in Palm Beach County to earn the distinction, 2019 Teacher of the Year, Boyd says that alone was exciting enough. However, the teacher also received a brand new BMW to go along with it.

“It’s been an amazing year of blessings. I welcomed our first child who is an amazing human already and I’m enjoying every second of motherhood, winning teacher of the year and just being alive it has been a good year,” said Boyd.

But it’s what she said next that left everyone surprised.

“So, I would like to pass the blessing on and one of you is going to get the keys to this,” said Boyd.

After drawing a name out of a bucket, Boyd passed off the keys to elementary school teacher and fellow nominee Natricia Finegan-Foreman.

“This just shows there are great people out there, amazing people out there and Danielle is living proof of that,” said Finegan-Foreman.

It’s a moment that Finegan-Foreman says she’ll remember every time she gets in the driver’s seat. When asked the first place she plans to drive her new car she said, “school!”

Thursday night’s event at Braman BMW in West Palm Beach also honored the 2019 School-Related Employee of the Year, Annette Blanco, with a brand new BMW X1.
