Hulu adds Newsy channel, more news and information to streaming service

Newsy produces daily short-form news videos

Hulu users will now be able to quickly catch up on the latest top stories in between binge-watching sessions of "Seinfeld."

Newsy content has been added to Hulu, bringing dozens of short-form, on-demand original news videos to the streaming service on a daily basis. As a brand, Newsy views itself as the cord-cutting generation's answer to 24-hour news networks like CNN or Fox News.

"Partnering with Hulu gives Newsy the opportunity to further our reach with the growing population of young people who are seeking an alternative to cable news,” said Blake Sabatinelli, general manager of Newsy, in a statement. “Hulu’s strong channel lineup and focus on over-the-top delivery makes it a natural platform for our cord-cutting audience to engage with our content.”

Hulu currently has about 12 million subscribers and allows users to stream current and classic television shows from many popular networks, in addition to movies. Newsy's content will be available for all Hulu users, regardless of their subscription preference.

Note: Newsy is owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, which also owns this broadcaster and its website.
