BOISE — There's a new tool for those working or learning from home.
Ryan Woodings, the founder of Metageek, typically creates WiFi tools for big places like coffee shops, football stadiums, and more.
Woodings noticed his next-door neighbor, who teaches kindergarten, struggled with her WiFi connection. Her best connection was in her kitchen, but that's the worst place to teach since she has kids of her own.
Woodings created an app for teachers and at-home students to use to help with their WiFi connection.
"[The app] walks you through the rooms in your house where you need WiFi, and it runs a little WiFi scanning the background, speed test, and it sends it up to our cloud where we can do analysis on it," said Woodings.
"The can say here are the rooms that would be better, here are some ways to make it more stable, or here are some ways you can reduce your network needs," said Woodings.
Metageek offers a free 14 day trial for downloaders, and anyone involved in education gets 90 days of free access. The app is compatible with windows — and you can download it here.
