MCCALL, Idaho — If you are looking to spend long periods of time in the woods this summer, the New Meadows Ranger District is seeking volunteer campground hosts.

A host campsite will be provided, as well as propane and reimbursement for incidentals and mileage. Volunteers have to commit for a minimum of two months and the campground is open May through September.

Volunteer campground hosts are front-line representatives of the U.S. Forest Service and are essential for the success of public land management. Typical volunteer duties include informing visitors of recreational opportunities, answering questions, monitoring campground sites for fee compliance, recording daily occupancy levels and maintaining campground facilities.

The Last Chance Campground is located nine miles from McCall along Goose Creek. The campground is popular due to its close proximity to McCall and New Meadows, as well as Goose Lake and the Goose Creek trail. 23 campsites are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information about this opportunity, contact the recreation manager Mike Beach at 208-634-0440.
