MCCALL, Idaho — You might say a winter snowstorm delivered a very Happy New Year to skiers and riders at Brundage Mountain in McCall -- when it dropped 12 to 14 inches of fresh snow on the mountain between Tuesday afternoon and mid-day Wednesday.

“Powder hounds were up early to enjoy the fresh snow and an unexpected sunbreak, before snow showers moved back in,” said Brundage spokesperson April Whitney.

Temperatures stayed in the mid- to low-20s during the storm surge, so the quality of the snow is on par with the quantity, she added.

Snow depths now range from 40 to 53 inches at Brundage Mountain, which has 100 percent of its terrain open.

Snow fell at a rate of up to an inch an hour before and after the brief sunbreak. Another one to two inches expected overnight tonight.

"This storm really delivered for Brundage,” said Whitney. "We're taking the fresh snow and exceptional conditions on New Year’s Day as a good omen for 2020."

Updated snow totals are available on the Brundage Snow Report page at www.brundage.com.
