HARNEY COUNTY, Oregon — The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down Saturday afternoon in Harney County.

It happened about 12 miles SSW of Frenchglen near Steens Mountain Range between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.

The NWS Boise office shared photos on twitter by Bart Elder Photography.

As rare as tornadoes are in the Pacific Northwest, we've seen quite a few lately.

Just last week, a tornado was confirmed in Elmore County.

Just two weeks ago, a funnel cloud was also spotted in SE Ada County.
