The Ada County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that a 14-year-old Kuna teenager was killed following a single-vehicle rollover crash in south Ada County on March 31st.
It happened about 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Black Cat Road and West Ridgeback Lane, just south of the Black Cat/Amity Road intersection.
Ada County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Carlos DeLeon says the driver of the vehicle was somehow distracted, causing the vehicle to leave the road and rollover.
Meridian Fire Department crews had to extricate the adult female driver and an adult male front-seat passenger from the vehicle.
The teenage girl, identified as Autumn Barnes, was thrown from the vehicle. Rescue crews tried to revive her at the scene, but their efforts failed. She died shortly thereafter. DeLeon said she was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver and front passenger were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.
The victims’ names have not yet been released.
The accident is still under investigation.
The southbound lanes of Black Cat Road south of Amity Road will likely remain closed for several hours, DeLeon said.
