The Super Pink Moon is not named for its color, it is a reference to moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which blossom with pink flowers in early spring.
The moon shown rising over the Boise foothills in this time-lapse video is at perigee, meaning it is at it's closest proximity to earth. It will be the largest appearing moon this year.
