Want to get in your hiking fix and enjoy the warmer weather? Make sure you stay off muddy trails!

BOISE, Idaho — Those trails might be tempting, but officials are reminding hikers to stay off muddy trails this winter.

Recreating on muddy trails causes erosion and lowers the quality of the walking and biking paths in the foothills.

If you're headed out to go hiking (or biking) today, avoid Peggy's, Polecat, Ridgecrest, Bucktail, Hillisde to Hollows trails other then the all weather surface trails, and the Tablerock trails.

If you insist on heading out on the trails, stick to lighter colored, sandy trails instead.

Ridge to Rivers officials say they will likely close down the Tablerock trails starting Sunday because of the low temperatures.

You can always check the latest trail conditions on Ridge to Rivers' website.
