Nampa Mayor Bob Henry gave his state of the city address at a Civic Center luncheon Wednesday.

Before the speech, dignitaries and others were recognized. Several businesses were also highlighted leading up to the speech.

A special tribute to a longtime city employee brought tears to the mayor's eyes.

"I'd like to focus on one person who isn't here today, that's Environmental Compliance Director Cheryl Jenkins," said Mayor Bob Henry, City of Nampa. "After a long battle with cancer, Cheryl passed away on Dec. 24... just short of her 25th anniversary of working for the city."

The mayor mentioned steady construction growth during his speech with building permits totaling $46 million since 2009.

Mayor Henry also talked about the recent surge in downtown business growth and the need there for more bike and pedestrian pathways. Traffic flow around library square will soon be addressed as well.
