MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department tells 6 On Your Side that they are in the final phase of their Cloverdale overpass reconstruction project. However, their final phase of the project warrants another closure.

On March 4th and 5th, I-84 all Westbound lanes and two left lanes heading Eastbound will be closed from 10 p.m to 6 a.m. Drivers will be routed to the Cole/Overland exit or Franklin exit, and will able to hop back on the Interstate at Eagle Road.

On March 6th and 7th, I-84 Eastbound and two left lanes heading Westbound will be closed from 9 p.m to 5 a.m. For drivers heading in that direction, you will be detoured to the Eagle Road exit and you can hop back on to the Interstate at the Cole/Overland or Franklin on-ramp.

Closures such as this are necessary for crews to complete their work in a safe, yet timely manner. "Anytime we're going to be doing work that may potentially have debris falling down on the Interstate or even in this case for us to be able to get access to place those girters, it's easier for us to do it if we're in the Interstate properly." according to Jake Melder, Public Information Specialist at the ITD.

ITD says that this project was "accelerated" from the beginning, but with their continued progress they anticipate the overpass to be open in June of this year.
