Construction is scheduled to begin on the I-84 Karcher Interchange in Nampa on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. This project is one of three happening in the area. Others include the Midland Boulevard bridge about I-84 and the Exit 33 loop and on-ramps.
In addition to the three projects, Exit 33B, the westbound on-ramp in Nampa will be removed.
Construction will result in adding a second southbound lane to Midland Boulevard, adding a second left turn lane from the Karcher Bypass to southbound Midland Boulevard and upgrading sidewalks and traffic signals.
With a majority of these plans taking place over night, the ITD does not anticipate any commuters to be inconvenienced. However, for those who will be passing by the designated zones during set construction times you’re encouraged to be mindful of your speed and workers, "there's just a lot of activity in that area, we want our construction crews to return safely to their families as well as motorists getting to their destination”, says Jennifer Gonzalez, spokesperson with the Idaho Transportation Department.
Jennifer also shares that the best way to stay updated on road closures, constructions zones and detours in the area is to visit 511.idaho.gov or download the smartphone app here.
