With stay home orders in place in some areas while slowly loosening in others, many of us have drastically reduced the number of activities we do outside our homes. But health professionals say you should not cut out your child's visits to the pediatrician. Experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics say that it is essential for families to stay connected with their pediatricians now more than ever.
Even though families are staying home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, there are still important reasons to come into the pediatrician's office. These include staying up-to-date on immunizations, hearing and vision screening and monitoring growth.
Your pediatrician is likely taking steps to make sure it is as safe as possible for visits that need to happen in person, like having newborns come in early in the day. Many pediatricians are now also offering video visits. Call your pediatrician ahead of time if you are concerned about your children's health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
