Now that the flowers are blooming and the grass is turning green, city employees in the Treasure Valley are very busy getting their parks ready.
It takes a lot of work to make your favorite summer hangouts beautiful, but the men and women behind the parks are dedicated.
They check every sprinkler, prune every bush, and make sure baseball fields are ready for the season.
"I like being outside. I enjoy what I do, I've done this most of my life. I like the dog park, I like the dogs," said Debbie Miller, with the City of Meridian Parks and Recreation Department.
Miller has witnessed Meridian grow and change drastically since she started 15 years ago, but every day she looks forward to coming to work.
"It's fun to come in and it not look so good and then when you're done, it looks great and to me that's. I enjoy that. It's satisfying. It makes me feel good," Miller said. "It makes me feel like I did my job that day."
Meridian City Parks and Recreation has their own weather center and control system that monitors things like high temperatures and rainfall. That determines how much water grass and plants need.
Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park is just one of 17 in the Meridian park system, and there's more on the way!
City of Nampa seasonal employees like Mike Lamb are returning for the job.
"I love outdoors, I mean, I've played softball a lot of years so I pretty much have the jist of how to do a field I guess," Lamb said.
Nearby in Boise, they're just as busy getting one of the most livable cities in the country ready for the season.
AND NEARBY BOISE PARKS AND RECREATION IS JUST AS BUSY GETTING ONE OF THE MOST LIVABLE CITIES IN THE COUNTRY READY FOR THE SEASON.
"It makes me feel amazing, phenomenal that everybody in the city comes to enjoy the work that we do. It's incredible. Everybody on the team feels the same way. We're very proud of the work that we do," said Andrea Wurtz, with the City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department.
