One man is dead after a wreck early Sunday morning on Ten Mile Road.

Meridian Police say they arrived on scene at 1:43 a.m. and found a 32-year-old man lying on a walking path unresponsive. The man died at the scene.

Police say 23-year-old Courtni Verity was traveling northbound on Ten Mile Road in a 2005 Toyota Avalon at a "high rate of speed" when she collided with the victim's 2004 Ford Mustang.

Police found Verity sitting on the bank of a nearby canal. Her Toyota was resting upright in the canal. Officials say the man was ejected from his vehicle after the impact forced his Mustang into the guardrail, causing it to spin.

Officers believe alcohol is a factor in the crash. Police booked Verity into the Ada County Jail on Vehicular Manslaughter charges. Police do not think either driver was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash is under investigation.
