IDAHO — "If we look at April, May and June and then we look at April, May and June of last year our hotline calls are almost doubling every single month. It's just incredible and frightening," said the Women's and Children's Alliance Communications Manager, Chris Davis. "I'm so glad we have these hotlines, and there are efforts like this because this is so crucial right now."
With domestic violence and sexual assault rates rising globally during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Women's and Children's Alliance is launching the "Piece of Hope" fundraising and awareness campaign.
Starting July 15, at all Stinker locations in Idaho, puzzle piece donation cards will be available for the community to donate to help fight against domestic violence and sexual assault.
All donations made on the puzzle pieces will benefit six community domestic violence service providers. Those include:
- YWCA – Lewiston, Idaho
- Advocates Against Family Violence – Caldwell
- Rose Advocates – Weiser, Payette, Emmett, McCall, Council, Cascade
- Women'sand Children's Alliance – Boise
- The Advocates – Hailey
- Family Services Alliance – Pocatello, Lava Hot Springs, Downey, Soda Springs and American Falls
They are also launching pocket cards to hand out that have information for people about organizations in their communities that provide free access to services for victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
"Every little something that you do with this does go to help people in your own community, so it's giving back," said Davis. "Every penny from this campaign goes into helping your local communities."
The puzzle pieces will be available to make a donation on at all Stinker locations from July 15 to Aug. 1. For more information on the campaign, click here.
