Police have identified the man arrested after a car chase that ended in a crash near Ann Morrison Park in Boise.

Investigators say Scott Stanton,33, of Payette was involved in a hit and run crash on I-84 in Nampa.  Using information from witnesses at that scene officers later found Stanton, still on I-84, near Eagle Rd and tried to pull him over.  That’s when police say he took off at speeds up to 90 miles an hour, eventually getting on the connector heading towards downtown Boise.  ISP ended the pursuit after he took the River St. exit.

A short time later Boise officers located the truck near Vista Ave. and Rose Hill St.  ISP rejoined the pursuit and say Stanton swerved at officers while taunting them and using profane gestures.

The chase eventually ended near Ann Morrison Park at the corner of Royal Blvd. and Lusk St. when officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the truck.  Four police cars and a parked car were damaged but nobody was injured in the incident.

Stanton is charged with felony eluding and aggravated assault on law enforcement officers.
