Idaho to resume maternal mortality data collection

Why do Black women have the highest maternal mortality rates?

On March 17, Governor Brad Little signed House Bill 399 into law. The bill grants permission to the Board of Medicine to collect and report data on maternal mortality rates.

Before HB 399 passed, Idaho was the only US state without a maternal death review committee after the committee disbanded in June 2023.

The committee aims to study Idaho's existing healthcare systems and determine how they can be improved to support mothers across the state.
