BOISE, Idaho — Final touches are being put on the Ferris wheel and vendors are stocking up on hot dogs and caramel apples. The preparations for this year's Western Idaho Fair are underway!
The fairs starts Friday, August 16 with carnival rides, exhibits and lots of food.
"Always trying to bring something new and exciting to the fair so that we don't get the same old stuff every year, but there's a lot of people who come out for the same traditional stuff which pretty much is the food. They love the food out here," said Bob Batista, the Western Idaho Fair director.
Judges spent Tuesday looking over all the food and quilt entries. This year's concert line-up includes 3 Doors Down, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dustin Lynch and REO Speedwagon. Those concerts are free when you buy a ticket into the fair.
Moms and babies visiting the fair will have a special spot just for them. St. Luke's will have "Babies Rest Stops" around the fair, including the Western Town building, behind the Expo building and at the east end of the Ada County Fairgrounds.
The rest stops will provide a clean, air conditioned, private space for breastfeeding and diaper changes and will be staffed by St. Luke's employees each day from 12:00 until 9:00 p.m.
