MIDDLETON, Idaho (AP) -- Two Middleton police officers have resigned after being accused of misconduct.

The Idaho Statesman reports that Sgt. Steve Walker and Officer Robert Kightlinger stepped down on Monday. Mayor Darin Taylor says the officers' actions were inconsistent with city policies.\

Earlier that day, the Owyhee County Prosecutor Douglas Emery told The Idaho Press-Tribune that his office would not charge the officers because there was no basis to charge them with criminal misconduct.

The complaint involved accusations of domestic battery with a private citizen. However, further details of the allegations have not been disclosed.

Walker and Kightlinger had been on administrative leave since May.
