The leaves are still falling, and hundreds of volunteers hit the streets of Meridian to help out their neighbors Saturday morning.

Those with a disability and senior citizens were invited to sign up for this year's Rake Up Meridian effort.

Volunteers brought their rakes, grabbed bags and were dispersed to different neighborhoods.

It's an event the entire family can participate in.

"It's a way to bond with your neighbors, your family and friends to get together and get out there and do some work and give back to the community," said Konrad McDannel, Rake Up Meridian coordinator.

More than 150 homeowners in need benefited from this year's effort.
