Recent rain and increased humidity is lending a helping hand to the more-than one-thousand firefighters still battling the Pioneer Fire in the Boise National Forest. As the fire continues to expand to the north, Idahoans are asked to avoid camping in front of the fast-moving fire this holiday weekend. The 180-thousand acre wildfire near Lowman is burning in timber in remote, mountainous terrain far from populated areas, though some low-level evacuations remain in place. The fire is now 55 percent contained but is expected to burn until we see snowfall. Right now the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
