6 On Your Side’s own J Bates allowed crews to talk to his father who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease as a way to create awareness of the disease and how hard it can be for families.
Ron Bates was a catalyst for J to become involved in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s event which raises thousands every year to fund research to help eliminate the disease.
After a ten year battle, Ron passed away on March 9th.
Instead of flowers, J hopes that people will donate to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Ron’s name.
Although the passing has been tough for both J Bates and the 6 On Your Side Staff, Ron was able to meet J’s newest son only days before his passing.
