Sanders garners support at Idaho Falls rally

Posted

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders says Idaho will support his Democratic presidential bid against Hillary Clinton, despite the state's notoriously deep red roots.

Sanders rallied hundreds of enthusiastic supporters on Friday while speaking in Idaho Falls. The presidential hopeful is currently holding rallies across the West, but he will return to Boise on Monday.

Standing in the home city of GOP-mega donor Frank VanderSloot -- an Idaho businessman and billionaire -- Sanders decried big money influencing political races and attracted cheers boasting once again that his campaign runs on small donations from supporters.

Sanders has lost in key states such as Ohio, Florida and Missouri to Clinton, who holds a strong lead in delegates.

Idaho Democrats will caucus on March 22.
