Saturday's March for Meals to spread awareness

Posted

Thousands of elderly folks in Idaho struggle with hunger on a daily basis.

It's a problem that is being highlighted this month across the nation.

On Saturday, March 19, there is an easy way to show them some love.

You can sign up for the "March for Meals" walk at 10:30 a.m.

The walk around Kleiner Park in Meridian kicks off at 11 a.m.

"The food is critical. For many of the folks, it's their only nutritious meal of the day," says Grant Jones, director of Metro Meals on Wheels. "But, it's so much more. It's stability, security, improved health, improved quality of life and independence so the seniors can stay in their own homes, which is exactly where they want to be."

There is no registration fee.

However, for every person that marches, Food Services of America will donate $5 to the Ada County Metro Meals on Wheels program.
