BOISE, Idaho — Boise Police are warning the public about a scam!
Officials say the scammers have obtained the Boise Police Department's phone number (208-570-6000) and are making fraudulent calls in an attempt to scam people. The callers are using scam attempts that are well known to law enforcement (grandchild in jail, warrant for your arrest), but Boise Police say officers will never call and threaten arrest.
Officers will also never demand payment for warrants, or gift cards as payment. If you get a call like this, hang up immediately.
The number (208-570-6000) is our actual records dept. number and you can call back and speak to an actual BPD employee if you ever receive a questionable call. You can also learn more about scams and how to protect yourself here: https://t.co/kfj0P3q6nx
