BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- The Idaho Senate finished the 2016 legislative session late Thursday evening, concluding their work for the year as House lawmakers were still scheduled to return to the state capitol on Friday.

Senate President Pro Tem Brent Hill praised the chamber for its hard work during the 74-day session.

The Legislature tends to run short in election years, but this year still wasn't as quick as in 2004 when it lasted 69 days.

Senate leaders decided to adjourn after sending the House a last-minute Medicaid waiver proposal. The House is scheduled to vote on the measure on Friday, where they likely will adjourn soon after.
