BOISE, Idaho — Local law enforcement and Drug Enforcement Agency officials are teaming up for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on October 24. Most locations are taking back medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Anyone can get rid of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs, controlled, non-controlled and over the counter substances. The DEA started the initiative in 2010 to provide anonymous opportunities to remove medicines in the home that are susceptible to misuse, abuse and theft.

You can dispose of the drugs in their original containers or directly into a disposal box. Here is a list of some locations that are open to taking drugs on October 24:

  • Republic Services Transfer Station in Meridian
  • West Valley Medical Center
  • Boise Police Department
  • Ada County Sheriff's Office
  • Fred Meyer Garden City
  • Kuna City Police
  • Nampa Police Department
  • Nampa Civic Center parking Lot
  • Caldwell Police Department
  • Boise County Sheriff's Office
  • Emmett Police Department
