BOISE, Idaho — Simply Cats is teaming up with other shelter partners in the Idaho Shelter Coalition to celebrate our feline friends in a statewide adoption event this month.
The adoption center is looking to rehome 20 cats at no cost thanks to a $900 Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence Grant funded by the Rachael Ray Foundation and administered by Best Friends Animal Society to provide lifesaving medical work to adoptable cats.
Limited fee-waived adoptions will be offered on October 9, 16, and 23. The final day will also mark the Adoptathon celebration on October 24. Simply Cats is dropping fees by 50% for all other adoptions on the same days.
Simply Cats recently took in two kittens that were being cared for by late pilot Ricky Fulton. Fulton died in an air tanker crash in September while responding to the Schill Fire burning near Emmett. The adoption center is now caring for little Ricky and Fulton before they head to the adoption floor in hopes of finding them a forever home together.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis honored Fulton, a Colorado native, and sent his condolences to his family, friends and colleagues during a press conference Friday.
"Colorado thanks Ricky Fulton and express our condolences to his family, a debt that we can never repay," Polis said.
