The Southeast Asian community of the Treasure Valley kicked off their new year on Saturday with songs, prayers, and traditional food.
Hundreds gathered at the Lao Buddhist temple in Nampa to celebrate the Buddhist New Year referred to as "Songkran" which is recognized across many countries in South and Southeast Asia including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.
The three-day celebration involves many traditions including fun spirit water fights.
The Nampa temple has been celebrating the traditions since 2006.
