BOISE, Idaho — If you're not a five-star chef, don't worry your kid still can be... in five days. Thanks to registered dietitian and culinary teacher, Pohley Richey, students in the Boise and West Ada School District can spend their Spring Breaks taking a culinary class at "Boise Urban Garden School."
Kids at this camp can learn various skills, such as properly using a chef's knife, sautéing, sauce making, and French pastry techniques.
Monday marked the first day of Spring Break in the Boise/West Ada districts, which meant the Boise Urban Garden School began its first class. Richey hopes this experience will get them excited about food. "It's going to get them excited about healthy food..."
She believes her course will help these young minds see, "that cooking healthy food can be easy, it can be fun and it's beautiful and can taste delicious."
