St. Luke's taking steps to prevent the flu in local schools

With the record cold temperatures and blustery winds, everyone is taking steps so they won't catch the flu--whether that means stocking up on over the counter medications or going to their nearest doctor for a flu shot.

Getting a flu shot isn't always so easy, so the St. Luke's Hospital Children's team has been setting up flu clinics for kids going to school in some of the valley's economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Tuesday, the team was at the Central Elementary School in Nampa.

This past month, the St. Luke's team has given flu shots to around 1,200 kids in Boise and Nampa.

If you're a parent concerned with getting your child protected from the flu, but may not have the financial resources, you're encouraged to contact your local health department.
