A 17-year-old boy is dead after a single vehicle crash near Ridgevue High School, west of the intersection of Linden and Franklin.
Canyon County officials say the vehicle went off the roadway and over-corrected, rolling into the canal. The vehicle was on its top and was partially submerged when first responders arrived.
According to his parents, the boy, identified as Connor Ferguson from Star, didn't come home for several hours. They reached out to Ada County, and Canyon County police were notified just after midnight.
A cell phone ping directed first responders to the area around 3:00 a.m., and the victim's family found the vehicle just after 4:00 a.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
