TREASURE VALLEY, Idaho — Just when commuters were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on the I-84 expansion project in Nampa, we now have to prepare ourselves for construction that will move west all the way to Caldwell.

It is a relief knowing that the Idaho Transportation Department is coming down the final stretch of their huge widening project in Nampa.

Before we cross the finish line though, major work remains to reconstruct northside interchange into what's known as a single point urban interchange. So what will it look like? It's a comparable design to the Ten Mile or Meridan interchanges.

Idaho Transportation Department says they doing everything they can to limit closures to overnight hours, as two lanes in each direction will remain open during peak hours.

Now before the widening moves north and west to Caldwell, work will continue on the Middleton road overpass replacement, and once that is done, I.T.D. will demolish the Ustick overpass and begin rebuilding sometime in May.

The widening from Karcher out to Franklin road will look very similar to what's already been done in Nampa.

And on a side note, construction crews are seeing a lot of unsafe driving behavior, including speeding, aggressive driving, and driving to close. Remember a crash can cause significant delays and higher than normal traffic fines. So be safe out there, and with a little patience, we'll get through this together.
