SUN VALLEY, Idaho — The Idaho Ski Areas Association says several ski and snowboard resorts will be opening Thanksgiving week!
Sun Valley Resort is looking forward to Thanksgiving, as the holiday marks opening day for the 84th year of skiing at the resort.
Sun Valley has been busy making snow in anticipation of the big day and the snow forecasted could give opening day an extra boost. The resort plans on five lifts being operational and there will be plenty of other activities for people to enjoy this holiday weekend.
"Yeah we are really excited about ski season this year it is the first year we will be a part of the epic pass so we are expecting quite a few guests to show up and enjoy Sun Valley and experience it for the first time," said Kelli Lusk from Sun Valley Resort.
The epic pass is a single pass that skiiers and snowboarders can use to ride around 50 different resorts all over the country. That pass will be on sale until December 2 and costs around $1,000 for adults and $500 for children.
Meanwhile, Bogus Basin is shooting to start chairlift service on December 7. The ski resort opened its terrain park earlier this month.
Two other ski reorts, Grand Targhee and Schweitzer Mountain are also set to open Thanksgiving week. Grand Targhee will begin daily operations Wednesday and will open two of its five chairlifts. Schweitzer Mountain will start operations on Friday.
Tamarack is expected to open December 13. Pomerelle also announced Tuesday it plans to open for weekends starting on Friday, and expects to open daily operations on December 21.
