CLEARWATER COUNTY, Idaho — A male suspect is dead after a search warrant was served at a home near Weippe Wednesday morning. Attorney General Lawrence Wasden announced investigators with the Idaho Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit were involved in the shooting incident.
Members of the unit, as well as officers from several local law enforcement agencies, served the warrant around 8:45 a.m. While they were securing the scene, officers found a man who brandished a handgun. Preliminary evidence shows the man first pointed the gun at himself and later at officers. Two officers fired their weapons, hitting the man, who died at the scene. Officers were not injured in the incident.
The incident is under investigation by the Region Two Officer Involved Critical Incident Task Force.
