STAR, Idaho — At Idaho News 6, since the pandemic struck our area, we're encouraging the community to consider supporting local eateries every Tuesday.

Rustic Table Kitchen + Bar is one of Star's latest additions. The restaurant opened March 9 but was forced to close in-house dining on March 27, following guidance in Governor Little's stay-at-home order. Like many restaurants in the area, the Rustic Table had two options: bend or break.

Wanting to give their new spot a chance to succeed, owners Carol Church and her fiance, Andy Minjares, decided to jump right into delivery and takeout options. Little did they know just how much support they'd receive from the community.

After cutting nearly their entire staff, in its first month, Rustic Table was able to hire more help and expand the lunch and dinner menu to include breakfasts on the weekends.

Church has been in the food industry for over 30 years. While this pandemic is dealing a hand many don't understand, Church tells Idaho News 6 she's learning how to go with the flow and ride the wave and try to come up with new things to try and generate business.

For a look at their business, you can click here, but if you're ready to place your order because the food looks that good, click here.

Stay tuned as Idaho News 6 reporter Frankie Katafias shares more of the Rustic Table's story this week in our Made in Idaho series.
