BOISE, Idaho — It's Tax Day, and if you still need to file, the U.S. Post Office is here to help.
All Southern Idaho Post Offices will maintain regular customer service hours and collection times on July 15. The latest collection time in the Boise area is at the USPS Mail Processing and Distribution Center on Cole Road. You can drop off paper tax returns until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Several area post offices also offer Self-Service Kiosks that are open 24 hours. If printed before midnight, customers will receive a mail label with a July 15 postmark. The kiosks only accept debit or credit cards.
Self-Service Kiosks are located at the Boise Main Post Office on 13th Street, Boise Five Mile Station, Nampa Main Post Office, Boise Cole Village Station, Meridian Main Post Office, and the Caldwell Main Post Office.
Customers are encouraged to mail their tax returns early in the day, and check the collection times on each box to ensure pick up on July 15. Correct postage is a must. Any requests for an extension must also be filed today.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many IRS employees are still working from home. The IRS is asking for people to file online if possible so there isn't a processing delay for paper returns and to make sure any refunds go out in a timely manner.
