File taxes and donate to charity simultaneously

If you're getting a return on your 1040 form, you can donate directly to charities within the form itself.

There are a variety of charities to choose from: You select the charities and enter a total amount you'd like distributed.

We visited the Idaho Food Bank. They say they have taken in between $90,000 and $100,000 from the form. And that money in turn is distributed at the local level.

Local food pantries, community kitchens and other charitable concerns apply for the grants mainly to enhance their ability to distribute food: a new roof, a new refrigerator, and so forth.

They try to empower these groups to distribute nutritious food, as opposed to foods that may be less nutritious but also have a longer shelf life.
