NAMPA, Idaho — The Lao-Thai New Year is a major holiday celebrated by almost every Lao family around the world. The holiday is commonly referred to as "Pii Mai" or "Songkran". Like any New Year celebration, this one represents joy and new beginnings.
The Wat Idahophoxaiyaraam temple in Nampa will host this years New Year celebration Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st beginning at 9 a.m and wrapping up at about 2 p.m. The festival will include a religious ceremony, traditional dances, food, music and other traditional festivities.
